Carla began work for Virginia Cooperative Extension in 1976. Prior to this, she worked at Coca-Cola, USA in Atlanta, Georgia and at the NASA/Wallops Flight Facility, Wallops Island, Virginia.

1984 - Southeast District Extension Secretaries' Association Secretary of the Year Award

1982 and 1987 - Epsilon Sigma Phi, Alpha Gamma Chapter, Outstanding Achievement Award.
