Charlottesville/Albemarle Agriculture and Livestock Program

4-H Livestock Projects teach:  

  • Responsible care and well-being of animals.
  • Life skills like goal setting and decision-making
  • Communication skills through judging events and oral presentations
  • Awareness of the practices in animal agriculture
  • The safe and appropriate use of animal products
  • Scientific principles

Youth interested in becoming involved in our livestock program or completing a livestock project should contact the Albemarle Extension Office at 434-547-4580, or one of our club leaders.  Contact information for the leaders can be found on the club flyer

Our 4-H Agriculture and Livestock Program is governed by the Charlottesville/Albemarle 4-H Agricultural Council Executive Board. Membership in this council is open to all persons interested in youth and agriculture production, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, or marital or family status; parents, youth, leaders, agri-business persons and other interested individuals from Albemarle County and the City of Charlottesville or surrounding counties.

The Charlottesville/Albemarle 4-H Agriculture Council has an Executive Board as its operating agent. Questions about the council or the program's annual 4-H Agriculture Showcase and Sale should be directed to the Executive Board at albemarle4hlivestock@gmail.com.
