Innovative Leadership: Building Community Connections
Residents of Alleghany County and the City of Covington recently participated in the Innovative Leadership: Building Community Connections program.
Our area understands the skills and characteristics needed to serve a progressive community, and that community growth and prosperity are linked to a strong leadership network.
Innovative Leadership: Building Community Connections, developed by Virginia Cooperative Extension, will be used as the training tool. Through this program, participants will have the opportunity to build leadership skills, increase awareness of community issues, network with other leaders and become engaged in community, civic, and governmental activities. Individuals will work in teams to practice the learned leadership skills and develop a fact-based proposal that, when implemented, will strengthen the community.
To receive information on upcoming sessions, please contact Christine Hodges, Extension Agent at 862-0369 or visit the Alleghany County/Covington Extension Office located at the Central Annex in Low Moor.
The leadership program is sponsored by the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce, Alleghany Highlands Economic Development Corporation, City of Covington, County of Alleghany, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, and Virginia Cooperative Extension.
The registration/tuition fee for each participant is $130 and is payable to: Treasurer - Virginia Tech upon selection into the program.
If you are a person with a disability and desire any assistive devices, services, or other accommodations to participate in any of these activities, please contact the Alleghany Office of Virginia Cooperative Extension at 862-0369 during business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at least 3 days prior to the event to discuss accommodations.
