Churchville Livestock 4-H Club News
The Churchville Livestock 4-H Club got off to a great start for the new 4-H year. The club elected a new slate of officers at the September meeting. They are: President-Harrison Powell, Vice President-Adele Wise, Secretary-Courtney Harris, Treasurer- Jonathan Hanger, Reporter-Caitlyn Harris.
In October, we discussed some fundraising ideas and in November we started to organize a party for our former organizational leader, Missy Back. Upcoming fundraisers include a silent auction in the spring.
Important dates for the club include the Youth Swine Education Day on February 26th at Virginia Tech. Nomination Day for Market Animal Show Lambs & hogs will be March 5, 2011. Members were advised to secure these animals before the nomination day. Market Animal Show dates will be May 4th & 5th.
The next meeting will be held on January 17th at the Buffalo Gap H.S. and new members are always welcome.

The Churchville Livestock 4-H Club met on October 17th at 7 p.m. at Buffalo Gap High School.
In our business session we discussed the scrap metal drive as a fundraiser.
Our program for the night included several business people in the community who presented different options of financing their 4-H projects. Many thanks to Ashlie Howell of Farm Credit, Allison Miller of Augusta Co-Operative, and Phillip Howell of Valley Feed .
For our November meeting, Shirley Kaufman, Buffalo Gap High School Ag Teacher and 4-H Leader of the Augusta County Livestock Judging Team gave information on how to care for market steers.
At the next meeting in December, the club voted to have a Chinese Gift Exchange.
