The Augusta County 4-H Dairy Club held their monthly meeting at the Extension Office on February 23rd. Cole Leonard gave a presentation on “Cows & Calories”. It was centered around weight gain in cows. Mr. Randy Inman and Mrs. Lois Skeen discussed the Hoard’s Dairyman Contest. Other business items included the DHIA bake sale on March 17th.   One of our members, Ashley Rubush was recently crowned the 2010 Virginia Dairy Princess. Congratulations, Ashley.

The Augusta County Dairy 4-H Club held their monthly meeting on March 16th at the Augusta County Extension Office.
The club discussed the upcoming DHIA meeting, June Dairy Month activities and the Red & White National Convention. The Southeast Dairy Retreat is being planned for July 6th in South Carolina.
For the educational program, Jeff Meador talked about pedigrees.

The Augusta County 4-H Dairy Club held their regular monthly meeting on April 20th at the Augusta County Extension Office.
Our discussion led us in many directions for the evening. We talked about the Dairy Retreat, The Red & White Sale & Banquet, and 4-H Camp. We also talked about June is Dairy Month and all the activities that are planned. We also sent thank you cards to those that have helped us with different activities.
Special recognition was awarded to Isabelle Marsh, Isabelle Leonard, Cole Leonard and Brooke Ambler on their 1st place achievement at the District Quiz Bowl. Kudos!
Brooke Ambler gave a presentation on the “Parts of a Dairy Cow” for the educational program.

 

The Augusta County 4-H Dairy Club held their monthly meeting on May 18th at the Augusta County Extension Office.
A dairy judging workshop will be held on Thursday, May 27th. The Augusta County 4-H Dairy Club received honorable mention for judging in the Hoard’s Dairyman Judging contest.
Club members received 1st place in the State Dairy Quiz Bowl contest. Members of the team are: Brooke Ambler, Isabelle Marsh, Isabelle Leonard and Cole Leonard.
There are 5 members of the club that wish to attend the Southeast Dairy Youth Retreat.

 

The Augusta County 4-H Dairy Club recently met on September 9, 2010 at the Augusta County Extension Office. During the time the club members discussed the upcoming events: State Fair, Junior Dairyman’s Contest, 4-H Achievement Night and Dairy Quiz bowl. We are a busy group!

The next meeting will be held on October 5th at the Extension Office. New members are always welcome.

The Augusta County 4-H Dairy Club held their monthly meeting at the August County Extension Office on October 5th.

The first order of business was to elect officers for the new year. Those elected were:
President-Lindsey Heizer, Vice Presidents-Katie Waldron & Hannah Sayre, Secretary-Jordan Ambler, Reporter-Isabelle Leonard, Assistant Reporter-Brooke Ambler, Historian-Kelly Leonard, and Event Planner-Ashley Rubush. Congratulations to all!

Upcoming events for the club include the annual Staunton Christmas Parade(Ashley Rubush, Chairperson) and a Christmas Party. Details will come at a later date.
The club also discussed new ideas for T-shirts or polos.

Congratulations to Katie Waldron & Hannah Sayre who won third place at the National 4-H judging contest. Our club also won first place on their promotional display at the fair.

The Augusta County 4-H Dairy Club held their regular meeting on November 16, 2010 at the Augusta County Extension Office.
During the meeting we discussed different activities for the rest of the year. The club plans to participate in the Staunton Christmas Parade which will be held on November 29th.
On December 17th, we plan to have a Christmas party and go caroling. Our community service project will revolve around making decorated bags for the elderly for the , “Be a Santa to a Senior Program”.
The club welcomed new member, Cassidy Lam, to the meeting.
Future events include the Dairyman’s Convention which will take place on February 11th.

The Augusta County 4-H Dairy Club held their monthly meeting on February 15th at the Augusta County Extension Office.

The Club plans to hold a bake sale at the DHIA meeting in March. Proceeds from the bake sale will help toward travel expenses for the Dairy Judging Team who plan to travel to Europe next year.

Other club activities include the VA Junior Holstein Convention, Dairy Quizbowl, “June is Dairy Month” exhibit at the Government Center and the Sweet Dreams Festival in Stuarts Draft.

Lois Skeen and Billie Jo Swope gave a program on “Show Calf Nutrition”.

The Augusta County 4-H Dairy Club held their monthly meeting on November 15th at the Augusta County Extension Office. Discussion of old business included the decision to participate in the Staunton Christmas Parade on November 28th,  4 –H Achievement Night and a Christmas party at the Amblers. There was also discussion about going snow tubing.

For our community service project, we decorated bags for the “Be a Santa for a Senior Program”.  They will be distributed by our leaders.

Special recognition was given to Cole Leonard and Lindsey Heizer for their participation on the Dairy Judging Team.

 

The Augusta County Dairy 4-H Club held their monthly meeting at the Augusta County Extension Office on February 21, 2012.

With spring just around the corner, the club is set with many activities. The major fundraiser will be a bake sale at the Dairy Herd Improvement Association meeting on March 14. Part of the proceeds will benefit members of the Dairy Judging Team who will be going to Europe this summer.

Other events discussed were the upcoming Market Animal Show Lamb & Hog Nomination on March 3rd at the Government Center. Some members will plan to participate in the VA Holstein Spring Show on April 17th.

Coleen Jones gave the educational program concerning caring for calves from birth to weaning.

Katie Waldron was recognized for receiving a blue ribbon at the presentations and public speaking contest. Her presentation was on dairy judging.
