Classic K-9's 4-H Dog Club News
The Classic K-9’s 4-H Dog Club held their monthly meeting on January 13th, 2010 at the Augusta County Extension Office.
Meredith Persinger, President presided over the meeting. Olivia Persinger led the club in the pledges.
Business items discussed were the upcoming Presentation Workshop sponsored by the 4-H Honor club. It was also noted that the first fundraiser will be on June 12-13th. Dog handling classes are scheduled to begin in March.
For the educational program, Chloe Breeding brought her Labrador Retriever, Cali.
Special recognition to Allison Fitzgerald and Hannah Mace for completing their project books.
The Classic K-9’s 4-H Dog Club held their monthly meeting on March 10th at the Augusta County Extension Office.
Olivia Persinger , Pledge Leader, led the club in pledges to the American Flag and 4-H. Secretary, Will Ratliff, gave the roll call.
New Business consisted of making plans for the club fundraising event which will be on June 12-13. It will be a silent auction in conjunction with the Skyline Kennel club Dog Show. Please come out and support our club! It was also noted that the Tuesday handling classes have been cancelled.
For the educational program, Will Ratliff gave his 4-H presentation, “The Brittany and Me”.

For the educational program, Allison Fitzgerald explained the process she went through to obtain her AKC junior number.
Club members have almost completed their first Project book, Wiggles and Wags and look forward to starting a brand new book in the fall.

The first fund raiser for the club will be the Silent Auction which will be held on June 12 & 13th in conjunction with the Skyline Kennel Club Dog Show at Expoland. Olivia Persinger brought her puppy, Macy to the meeting. Meredith Persinger gave her 4-H presentation, “How to Work a Room” to the group.
The Classic K-9’s meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. You do not have to own a dog to be a member of the club.

The Classic K-9's met on July 14th at the Augusta County Extension Office. Will Ratliff led in the pledges and the roll call.In the meeting, we discussed the upcoming Dog Show at the Augusta County Fair.
Our August meeting was held at the Augusta County Fair during the dog show. Will Ratliff led the club and spectators in the pledges. The following members competed at the dog show:

Upcoming events include the Virginia State Fair 4-H Dog show which will be held on September 25th at the showgrounds in Doswell. Come out and support our 4-H members.

The Classic K-9’s 4-H Club met on September 8th at the Augusta County Extension Office. The main order of business was to elect officers for the new 4-H year.

Some of the Classic K-9 members will participate in the State Fair 4-H Dog Show on September 25th. Good Luck!
The Classic K-9’s 4-H Club met on October 13th at the Augusta County Extension Office. For the business session, the members discussed ideas for Community Service projects. Other upcoming important dates are Officer Training on November 1st, Achievement Night on November 20th and our club’s Christmas party that is slated for December 8th.
Congratulations to Allison Fitzgerald who won first place in the youth pet division at “Pets in the Park”.
The Classic K-9’s have been very busy this spring. The club voted to help with hospitality at the Skyline Kennel Club and to sponsor the Junior Showmanship. At the February meeting, Allison Fitzgerald bought Rick-O-Chet, her beagle to present to the club.
In March, we took pictures of our club members which will be used in an ad for the Skyline Kennel Club showbook. Colton Buchanan brought his dog, Jovey, who is an Australian Cattle Dog. He helps on the farm.
Congratulations to Will Ratliff and Allison Fitzgerald who both participated in the 4-H Presentation Contest and won blue ribbons. They will advance to the 4-H District Contest. They both gave their presentations at the club’s April meeting on the 13th. Will’s presentation was entitled, “ How to Pick the Right Puppy” and Allison’s was on “Beagles”.
The club took a field trip to the AKC Agility trials held at the Virginia Horse Center on April 2nd. 4-H members were given a special behind the scenes tour of the trials. It was very exciting and we learned a lot.
In May, we worked some more on our project books and we decided to do a service project with the SPCA.
All club meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at 7o’clock at the Augusta County Extension Office . New members are always welcome.

The Classic K-9's 4-H Dog Club are busy getting ready for the State 4-H Dog Show which will be held at the Virginia State Fairgrounds-Meadow Event Park on October 1. This year's theme is "Celebrate 40 Years!". Please come and show your support for our 4-H'ers and their projects.
