Virginia Cooperative Extension Celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act

Join Virginia Cooperative Extension as it celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act, which officially established the National Cooperative Extension System. Activities are being planned throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia to commemorate the centennial in 2014. Events will be held in local communities, recognition of our Extension volunteers, and even a Virginia Cooperative Extension Day on May 8! Check this site frequently for periodic centennial updates and articles about Virginia Cooperative Extension programs and events.

Virginia 4-H License Plate!

Join the effort to introduce Virginia 4-H license plates!  A minimum of 450 orders complete with payment is required before it can be introduced in the General Assembly.

Cost of a non-personalized plate is $25 and a personalized plate is $35.  If minimum sales are met, revenue will be used to fund scholarships for 4-H members. What better way to help your local 4-H program. 

If you are interested in ordering a Virginia 4-H license plate (non-personalized or personalized) - contact our office (540)473-8260 for order form and more information. If the 450 minimum is not met - fee's will be refunded.

Botetourt 4-H Camp week announced for 2015!

Botetourt 4-H Camp for 2015 will be the week of July 6 - 10, 2015!      

4-H Camp registration begins in April 2015 - exact registration opening date to be announced later.  Check back often.  

Botetourt will be camping with Craig and Rockbridge counties at the W.E. Skelton 4-H Educational Conference Center at Smith Mountain Lake in Wirtz, VA the week of July 6 - 10, 2015.  Open to all boys and girls in Botetourt County between the ages of 9 - 13 by September 30, 2015 and age 14 after December 31, 2014. 

If you are interested in applying to be a 4-H Teen Counselor at Botetourt 4-H Camp (7/6 - 7/10), contact our office, (540)473-8260 or carterke@vt.edu for more information.  For teens 14 - 19 years old.  (at least 14 years old by January 1, 2015)
