3rd Annual Botetourt County 4-H Poultry Chain Project!

Come to an informational meeting, Monday, March 23, 2015, 6:00 pm, Fincastle Community Center, Fincastle, VA to learn more.

Each poultry chain participant will receive 25 day-old baby chicks, all pullets, to feed, raise, and care for during the project. Baby chicks should arrive between April 20 - 24, 2015.  You will be required to sign a contract that outlines the responsibilities of you, as the participant.  On August 7th and 8th at the Botetourt County Fair in Buchanan, you will return your FIVE best pullets to be displayed, judged, and sold at auction.  The proceeds from these five birds go back to the Botetourt County Poultry Chain Project fund to pay the expenses for next years birds.  The remaining 20 birds are yours to market or retain as you see fit.

Botetourt County 4-H Presentation Contest

Friday, April 24, 2015, 6:30 pm, Read Mountain Middle School, Cloverdale, VA

Prepare a presentation, give it and be judged.  Everyone receives a ribbon based on the merit of each individuals work.  You compete by age division and category.  This is an excellent opportunity to give a presentation, illustrated talk, or speech in an area that you are interested in.  If you have questions, or need help preparing, call Katherine E. Exhibitors must be a bona fide 4-H or FFA member from the following counties:  Alleghany, Bedford, Botetourt, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Montgomery, Pulaski, Roanoke, or Rockbridge.

Open to youth between the ages of 9 and 19 as of September 30, 2015 and officially enrolled in the 4-H or FFA program from counties listed above. 

Entry Fees:  $10 per entry for Hog, Steer, Heifer, Lamb or Goat

ALL ENTRIES DUE BY MAY 1st, 2015 regardless of species to VCE - Botetourt Office

Botetourt 4-H CAMP - July 6 - 10, 2015

REGISTRATION BEGINS:  THURSDAY, APRIL 16, 2015  (no registrations will be accepted any earlier)  

Botetourt will be camping with Craig and Rockbridge counties at the W.E. Skelton 4-H Educational Conference Center at Smith Mountain Lake in Wirtz, VA the week of July 6 - 10, 2015.  Open to all boys and girls in Botetourt County between the ages of 9 - 13 by September 30, 2015 and age14 on or after January 1, 2015 

Registrations are accepted on a first come - first serve basis.  Space is limited.  NO REFUNDS after May 20, 2015.
