Family Field Trips - Summer 2013

The Buckingham Extension Office is once again offering Family Field Trips this summer under the leadership of retired Extension Agent, Edith Austin.  These trips are designed for parents/guardians and their school age youth to share a fun and educational experience as they strengthen family bonds and communication skills.  The trips support Virginia Standards of Learning.  Cost is $17 per person for transportation and admission fees.  .  Additional costs are covered by Preserving Safe and Stable Families funding.  Families need to provide their own picnic lunch and money for a dinner stop and souvenirs.  To ensure that as many people are able to participate as possible, families may sign up for only one trip initially.  If another trip does not fill, registration will be opened to families wishing to take another trip.  Space is limited and buses will be filled on a first come, first seated basis.

2013 Junior 4-H Camp - June 24-June 28, 2013

4-H Camp is a fun and exciting way for youth ages 9 to 13 to spend a week away from home. Campers from Buckingham and Prince Edward Counties spend a great week at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center, learning new skills, making new friends, and catching up with old buddies. 4-H Camp also fosters a sense of independence and promotes important life skills. The program staff at the 4-H Center teach a core group of classes. Trained adult leaders, teen leaders (ages 14 –19), and Extension staff teach various other classes and supervise the campers during the week.
