Agriculture and Natural Resources
As a Crop and Soil Science Agent, Mac works very closely with the crop and cash-grain producers in Caroline County and the rest of Planning District 16 which includes Stafford, Spotsylvania and King George.. Mac keeps the area producers informed of the latest production practices through research-based educational programs dealing with crop production, Best Management Practices (BMPs), nutrient management, and weed, insect and disease control. Mac is also very involved with water quality protection and education in Virginia, Caroline and the Rappahannock River Basin. He is a member of the Rappahannock River Basin Commission and the Non-pointsource Work Group. Mac also works with pastures and is the local contact for commercial and environmental (homeowner) horticulture.
