Judy Ferguson Selected Chesapeake's Volunteer of The Quarter
Judy Ferguson has been selected as Chesapeake's Volunteer Of The Quarter for her VCE volunteer work in the City. Her nomination by the Chesapeake Office of Virginia Cooperative Extension reads as follows:
Judy Ferguson has been a faithful volunteer for the Chesapeake Office of Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) for over 25-years. A lifelong resident, Judy and her husband Bob Ferguson live in Great Bridge where they enjoy outdoor activities such as beekeeping, raising vegetables, and caring for the locally famous Ferguson mules. Judy has seen a lot of change during her lifetime. And Judy has been engaged with helping shape and preserve some of those long-standing traditions, as well as acquire new knowledge through her involvement with educational programs in the Agriculture Department.
To cite some of Judy’s volunteer efforts, she is a Master Gardener, member of Tidewater Beekeepers Association, member of Chesapeake’s Agricultural Producers Association, advisor to Heritage Arts Festival, member of Chesapeake’s Extension Leadership Council and now recently a state advisor to the VCE Leadership Council. Judy has been a role model for continuing education through her support for Extension programs culminating with recently earning her own Master’s Degree in Horticulture from Virginia Tech.
Judy has donated many hours to supporting educational programs ranging from adult programs to 4-H youth activities. The Agriculture Department salutes Judy’s accomplishments and extraordinary volunteer work.
