2008 Agricultural Exposition in Dinwiddie County

In 2008, Dinwiddie hosted the Agriculture Expo on the farm of Billy Bain.  The Dinwiddie ANR Extension Agent, Mike Parrish worked with Billy Bain, Randy Everett, and Mark Spiers to showcase the diverse agriculture of southside Virginia.  The VCE Field Tour consisted of 8 stops and 17 field plots.  The tour was lead by additional extension agents from across Southeastern Virginia.  The local agent organized equipment demonstrations and field studies conducted by seven VCE Specialists and two NRCS Personnel.

Topics discussed during the program, included Inject Sidedress Nitrogen, Strip-Tillage Comparison Study, Plant Population Comparisons, Weed Control, Cotton, Corn, and Soybean Varity  Comparisons, Conservation Tillage and Drip Irrigation under Flue Cured Tobacco and a comparison study on Annual Forage Options.
