Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Franklin County improve their lives.

We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.

Virginia Cooperative Extension Celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act

Join Virginia Cooperative Extension as it celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act, which officially established the National Cooperative Extension System. Activities are being planned throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia to commemorate the centennial in 2014. Events will be held in local communities, recognition of our Extension volunteers, and even a Virginia Cooperative Extension Day on May 8! 4-H License Plate

4-H License Plate

Virginia 4-H is seeking to establish a revenue-sharing license plate. This is a great way to show your pride for 4-H, and once the minimum sales requirement has been met revenue will be used to fund scholarships for 4-H members. We must have 450 orders complete with payment before approval of the plate can be introduced in the General Assembly.

Rockets To The Rescue

4-H National Youth Science Day (NYSD) is an exciting, interactive learning experience that engages thousands of youth across the country in conducting the National Science Experiment.

The University of Arizona developed the 2014 National Science Experiment: Rockets to the Rescue! Students will build and launch their own rockets and learn about rocket science and aerospace engineering

Franklin County 4-H are offering this exciting opportunity for all youth aged between 9 - 13 to join us for a day of fun and Rocketry!

When: December 6, 2014

Where: Essig Rec Center, 295 Technology Dr, Rocky Mount

Time: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Cost: $5.00

Registration Information: Once Registration and fee is received, we will send out 4-H paperwork to be completed and returned before the Event. 

Additional Information: Please bring a bag lunch with you, snacks and drinks will be provided.
