The Gloucester County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension is your local connection to Virginia's land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University.

Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Gloucester County improve their lives.

We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.

Language Interpretation Services Now Available

If you have limited English skills, do not let that stop you from visiting an Extension office. If you have difficulty speaking or understanding English, our staff can serve you by connecting you to one of our Extension agents through a telephone-based interpreter. Interpretation for more than 200 languages is provided. This service is free to our clients. Read more

2016 Gloucester County 4-H Camp

When: June 27 - July 1, 2016

Where: Jamestown 4-H Center

Who: Youth who are ages 9-13 by September 30, 2016

Cost: The total cost per child is $235 and includes all expenses with the exception of items purchased at the camp store which may include souvenirs and snacks. The camp fee covers lodging, all meals, classes and recreation as well as the camp tee shirt.

Registration Deadline: Registration will start February 1. Return the attached registration form with a $85 deposit or full payment. This will reserve your space at camp. If payment is not made in full with the registration, remaining fees may be paid in two installments of $75 each on April 1 and May 1. All forms and payment must be complete and returned to the office by May 15.

Well Water Clinic

Virginia Cooperative Extension will be offering Well Water educational and testing clinics during the third week in July, in Gloucester, Middlesex, and Mathews. The first meeting will be the ‘kickoff meeting’, where we’ll discuss basic well water safety and maintenance, we’ll discuss the proper procedures to take water samples, and we’ll hand out the sample kits. The kickoff meetings take roughly an hour.
