Virginia Cooperative Extension Celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act
Join Virginia Cooperative Extension as it celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act, which officially established the National Cooperative Extension System. Activities are being planned throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia to commemorate the centennial in 2014. Events will be held in local communities, recognition of our Extension volunteers, and even a Virginia Cooperative Extension Day on May 8! Check this site frequently for periodic centennial updates and articles about Virginia Cooperative Extension programs and events.
2014 Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation 4H Peer Teacher Program
Youth ages 13-16 from James City, Williamsburg, and upper York County are invited to apply for 4-H Peer Teacher training program held at the Jamestown Settlement. Peer teachers complete training in history and interpretation during one of two summer sessions. The 4-H Peer Teacher Training program prepares youth to apply for volunteer positions helping with historical interpretation in the fort, ship, or Powhatan village sites beginning in the fall. The 4-H Peer Teacher Program helps youth develop skills in speaking to people and gain knowledge of Virginia history.
Application due March 28, 2014.
