The Goochland County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension is your local connection to Virginia's land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University.

Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Goochland County improve their lives.

We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.

Goochland 4-H Summer Camp 2009

Kids Singing

Junior camp is open to all youth 9-12. Camp is an opportunity to make new friends, learn and have fun in a safe environment. Each day will be a new adventure! Along the way learn a few survival skills like fishing and outdoor cooking. And for evening fun there's a tropical karaoke pool party, and of course singing around the campfire. Campers select their own classes, including archery, canoeing, swimming, air rifle, crafts, fishing, outdoor cooking, and more! Don't let you child miss out on the fun and lasting memories!

4-H Cooking Club: Ages 5-19 Come join the 4-H cooking club as we explore new recipes and new ways to fix some old favorites.

Cloverbuds: Ages 5-8 Cloverbuds learn about the world around them. Join us as we look and learn about the plants,insects and animals in our own backyards.

Animal Science Club: Ages 9-19 You dont have to own livestock to learn about showing and basic care giving techniques. Join us if you want to learn more about large and small livestock in Virginia. 

Thunderhooves: Ages 9-19 Our very own horse club. Horsemanship and equine education. Test your knowledge with a Hippology test. 

Junior Summer Camp: Ages 9-12 August 10 - August 14 2009.  For a fee you can join us at Jamestown 4-H Educational Center and Camp. A week long summer camp, Jamestown offers canoeing, riflery, crafts and much more.

You're Invited -- Conversations on Poverty

On Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Virginians will have a unique opportunity to pitch their solutions for reducing poverty in their localities and statewide. In one of the largest-ever, simultaneous conversations devoted to the issue of poverty reduction, attendees are encouraged to recommend specific strategies for the Commonwealth’s Poverty Reduction Taskforce and local and state officials to consider.
