The Goochland County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension is your local connection to Virginia's land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University.

Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Goochland County improve their lives.

We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.

2015 Goochland Extension Leadership Council Berry Plant Fundraiser

Our goal is to provide quality products at reasonable prices. Proceeds from the sale will be used to support
local Extension Office programs. Call 804-556-5841 for information. Orders should be sent to:

STRAWBERRY PLANTS – Earliglow is vigorous, free of pests, and freezes well. A bundle of 25
plants is enough for a forty-foot row. Strawberry season runs from mid-May to mid-June.

BLACKBERRY PLANTS – Both varieties have erect canes and glossy black fruit. Blackberries
ripen in early to mid-June and bear for weeks.

Plants will be distributed (with instructions for planting and care) from Noon until 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday,
March 18th and from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 19th at the Goochland Extension Office
at 1876 Sandy Hook Rd. Availability is limited. Orders will be filled in the order received. Orders must be
received in the office by Monday, March 2, 2015.

Mushroom Production Workshop

Goochland Leadership Enterprise, 18th Class, 2014 - 2015

The Goochland Leadership Enterprise program consists of thirteen sessions and a Graduation dinner. The majority of meetings are scheduled on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at various locations around the County with one daytime meeting at the State Capital. The registration fee is the only cost to the participant and covers materials and meals during Orientation, Day at the Capital, Dinner with the Supervisors and the Graduation Dinner. Scholarships are available on a need basis. Applications are now being accepted, apply early as the class size is limited.

Spring Garden Fest 2015 – Saturday, April 25th – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Spring Garden Fest is an annual event sponsored by the Goochland - Powhatan Master Gardeners in cooperation with Reynolds Community College and VA Cooperative Extension.

It is held on the college’s Goochland campus and offers classes and workshops on topics of interest to the home gardener, knowledgeable and friendly volunteers, and a wide variety of plants and garden related items for sale. All of this, combined with a beautiful location, makes for a very special day for gardeners of all skills and ages.

A $10 registration fee covers all classes with additional fees for workshop materials. There is no fee to just stop by to stroll the wonderfully landscaped college gardens, shop at the vendor booths, and get gardening questions answered by the Goochland-Powhatan Master Gardeners.

Classes and workshops are reserved on a first come basis when payment is received. They fill up quickly, so register early for the best selection!
