Goochland Leadership Enterprise
GLE History
Good and effective leadership is not limited to those in positions of authority, nor is it limited to any one race, culture or economic status. In order to reap the benefits of the varied backgrounds of the citizens of Goochland, the County should introduce a leadership development program. It should be a partnership between local government and various organizations throughout the county (i.e. Cooperative Extension, Chamber of Commerce, NAACP, civic organizations, citizens organizations, etc.). The purpose would be the following:
1. Identify potential leaders throughout the County.
2. Help to cultivate the leadership skills of citizens.
3. Encourage potential leaders to take a more active role in the County.
4. Educate participants about the opportunities and problems in Goochland.
5. Bring current and potential leaders in contact to encourage discussion and debate.
6. Develop a spirit of cooperation to benefit the County as a whole.
Objectives
*Encourage program participants from all areas of the county to get involved in community activities and to develop leadership skills.
*Expand citizen leadership potential by increasing their knowledge of Goochland County and the critical issues facing its citizens.
*Develop interactive participation and a collaborative citizen involvement between program members and current community and local government leaders.
*Recognize those citizens who have an interest in helping the county develop its vision to become a desirable place to live, work and enjoy life.
