Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Grayson County improve their lives.

We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.

Commercial Pesticide Applicator Recertification

In early November each year, Extension Agents in 18 Southwest Virginia counties host a recertification class for commercial pesticide applicators and registered technicians in areas of agricultural plant pest control, forestry, right-of-way, government employees, lawn/turf/ornamental, home pest and termite control. This all day event covers legal updates, safe and effective uses and category specific information such as new products and integrated pest management strategies for specific pests. This class renews commercial applicator licenses for 2 years while offering recertification credit in neighboring states of NC, TN, KY, and WV. For a look at this year's agenda, see:
