Karen Carter is an Environmental Horticulture Extension Agent in Henrico County, and has been with Virginia Cooperative Extension since January of 1989.

She conducts educational programs in sustainable landscape management, integrated pest management, and water quality protection for homeowners and the horticulture industry.
She coordinates the SMART Lawns program for Henrico County. Before joining the Henrico County Extension Office, she worked for the North Carolina Agricultural Extension Service in Caldwell County, North Carolina.

A native of Appomattox County, Karen received her B. S. and M. S. degrees from Virginia Tech in Agricultural Education and Horticulture, respectively.
