Lisa Sanderson

Lisa Sanderson has been an Extension Agent for Virginia Cooperative Extension in Henrico County since 2007.   She works with almost 140 Master Gardener volunteers who assist the residents of Henrico County through the Horticulture Helpline, Plant Clinics, Speakers Bureau, Junior Master Gardeners, and other areas.

Lisa holds a B.S. in Landscape Horticulture and a Masters of Agricultural Education both from NC State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Her experience as an intern at the NCSU Arboretum (now the J.C. Raulston Arboretum) in Raleigh, as well as positions in wholesale and retail nurseries, and landscape firms, as well as teaching high school horticulture for 8 years has provided Lisa with a strong working knowledge of plant material used commonly in Virginia landscapes.

As an extension agent, Lisa’s focus has been on sustainable landscape design, plant diagnostics, the Master Gardener and Junior Master Gardener programs, a community garden project entitled “Gardens Growing Families,” and planning for homeowner pesticide safety training.  The Master Gardeners are currently planning an educational fair showcasing Virginia Cooperative Extension called the Henrico Harvest Fair scheduled for this fall at Armour House and Gardens at Meadowview in eastern Henrico County.
