Junior 4-H Camp

Camp Kayak Photo

Junior 4-H Camp is our residential, week-long summer camp program available to youth ages 9-14. This camp is held for one week every summer at the Jamestown 4-H Educational Center.  The dates of James City County’s 2015 Junior 4-H Camp will be posted soon. For more information about Junior 4-H Camp visit the Jamestown 4-H Center’s website.

Please note that James City County is in charge of planning for and processing registration for our week of Junior 4-H camp. Jamestown 4-H Center is just the facility we use during the week for camp programming. Registration and/or questions regarding James City County’s Junior 4-H camp should be directed to the James City County Extension office at 757-564-2170, not the Jamestown 4-H Center.

In addition to the opportunity for youth ages 9-14 to attend camp as campers, teens ages 15-18 can apply to serve as Camp Counselors during the week of camp. The role of Camp Counselor includes a high level of responsibility and teens interested must submit an application with three references, complete an interview, and attend a significant amount of training throughout the spring. Youth ages 13-14 can also apply to serve as Counselors-In-Training (CITs) during summer camp. In this role, CITs function much like campers, but receive additional training throughout the spring and during camp to help prepare them for a role as a Camp Counselor. More information about Camp Counselor and CIT positions, including application materials, will be coming soon.
