Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of James City County improve their lives.

We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.

Language Interpretation Services Now Available

If you have limited English skills, do not let that stop you from visiting an Extension office. If you have difficulty speaking or understanding English, our staff can serve you by connecting you to one of our Extension agents through a telephone-based interpreter. Interpretation for more than 200 languages is provided. This service is free to our clients. Read more

4-H Summer Camp

Teen Camp Counselor and Counselor-in-Training Applications for 4-H Summer Camp 2017 are Due December 16, 2016. Visit the 4-H Summer Camp page for applications and more information.

Junior 4-H Summer Camp 2017 will be held July 3-7, 2017. Registration for camp will open on February 13, 2017.

Turf Love is a year-round program for county residents. Soil sampling, lawn measuring, and certified Nutrient Management Plans are all components for fertilizing lawns to best reduce nutrients reaching our waterways.
