2015 Junior 4-H Camp Registration Now Open!

Louisa County Junior 4-H Camp will be held June 1-5, 2015*. 4-H camp is a fun and exciting way for youth ages 9 to 13 to spend a week away from home. The camping program helps youth learn new skills, make new friends, and catch up with old buddies. 4-H Camp also fosters a sense of independence and promotes important life skills. The program staff members at the 4-H Center teach a core group of classes. Trained adult leaders, teen leaders (ages 14–19), and Extension staff teach various other classes and supervise the campers during the week. Campers stay in rustic cabins, bunkhouses, and lodges and there is a ratio of 1 counselor per 8 campers.

Classes include Archery, Arts and Crafts, Basketball, Canoeing/Kayaking, Fishing, Gau-Gau, High and Low Ropes, Nature, Outdoor Living Skills, Performing Arts, Photography, Riflery, Rocketry, Swimming, Volleyball, and Wildlife Gardening. Our camp is more than just FUN! It is also accredited through the American Camping Association and focuses on the 4-H philosophy of “Learn by Doing” and the experiential learning model.

Registration forms are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting on February 2, 2015. Completed registration forms and $50 non-refundable deposit are due by March 27, 2015 in order to reserve your space for camp. Deposits of $50 are non-refundable and non-transferable.

*Please note: June 1st and 2nd are calendared snow days for Louisa County Public Schools. If June 1st becomes a school day, camp will be from June 2-6, 2015. If June 2nd also becomes a school day, camp will be from June 3-7, 2015. For more information regarding camp or to request a registration form, please contact Jenny Thompson at 540-967-3422.
