2013 Appomattox/Lynchburg Summer Camp
We are now accepting registrations for the 2013 Lynchburg Summer 4-H Camp to be held August 5 - August 9 at Holiday Lake 4-H Center. 4-H Camp is a fun and exciting way for youth ages 9 to 13 to spend a week away from home. Campers from Appomattox County and the City of Lynchburg spend a great week at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center, learning new skills, making new friends, and catching up with old buddies. 4-H Camp also fosters a sense of independence and promotes important life skills. The program staff at the 4-H Center teach a core group of classes. Trained adult leaders, teen leaders (ages 14 –19), and Extension staff teach various other classes and supervise the campers during the week. The cost is $190.00 for the week and it is for youth that are 9 - 13 years old.

Hill City Master Gardeners
Volunteers who work with the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service to improve gardening skills throughout the community through education. Program objectives are implemented through the training of local volunteers known as Master Gardeners. We collaborate with Extension to conduct youth and community education; establish and maintain demonstration gardens; organize a Home Visit team; and provide a speakers bureau. We work with special audiences in the community for youth and community outreach of a horticultural nature. We recruit and educate new Master Gardener candidates for effective volunteering.
