4-H Youth Development

Montgomery County 4-H offers many programs and activities for area youth.  These include community clubs, special interest clubs, after-school programs, day and residential camps, and leadership opportunities.  To learn more about existing clubs or about information on how to start a new club, contact Michelle Dickerson at 382-5790.  To receive information about upcoming events, you can subscribe to our county's e-mail list for 4-H Youth Programs.   Just submit your e-mail address and select the list to which you would like to subscribe.  "4-H Youth Programs" is the first on the list.  We send announcements about all upcoming events to this list.

Halloween Weekend Camp

Halloween Weekend Camp will be held at the SW 4-H Center in Abingdon the weekend of October 30-November 1.  It is open to youth in grades 6 through 8.  Activities will include a costume contest, pumpkin carving, creating an old-time radio play, astronomy, night hike, LEGO robotics, storytelling, and a performance at the Barter Theatre including a backstage tour.  The cost for the camp is $75.

Agtoberfest 2009

Alpha Zeta of Virginia Tech and 4-H will be hosting Agtoberfest on Saturday, October 24th at the Alphin-Stuart Livestock Arena in Blacksburg.  The program is free and is open to all youth and families.  There will be games, educational displays, livestock exhibits, and pumpkin painting!

SW District Teen and All Star Weekend

The Southwest District 4-H All Stars and Teen 4-H Council are hosting "4-H Grammys", a fun weekend centered around friends, fun, and musical talent.  The event will be held November 6-8 at the SW 4-H Center in Abingdon.  Participants must be 14 years of age by October 1, 2010.  The cost for the weekend is $60.
