Become a Volunteer Tax Assistant

Explore this excellent opportunity to enhance your leadership skills.  The Internal Revenue Service is looking for a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Site Coordinator for local Disability Site.  This is a flexible position that provides professional level staff support to the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.

The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible coordinating volunteers for free tax preparation and other wealth-building activities at VITA sites by utilizing new and existing volunteers.

The Volunteer Coordinator will also participate in planning and executing volunteer-related activities, including training sessions, recognition events, etc.

The position requires considerable creativity, independent judgment, and ability to assume significant responsibility with minimal supervision.  The Volunteer Coordinator will work with Virginia Cooperative Extensions' Asset Building Program Manager and the VITA Project Manager to efficiently recruit, train and place volunteers at the VITA series.

The Volunteer Coordinator reports directly to the IRS Stakeholder Relationship Tax Consultant.
