Jenny Kapsa
As the 4-H Coordinator for Rappahannock County, Jenny Kapsa works to create programs, workshops and camps for the youth in the community. She determines the needs and interests of the Rappahannock youth, and develops a 4-H program or workshop around these areas.
Jenny works in the public schools to provide in-school curriculum to various grade levels, including embryology, electricity workshops, nutrition programming and the Master Gardener “Ready, Set, Grow!” program. With only one public school in the county, Jenny has been able to foster relationships with many of the teachers and staff at the elementary school, and many of them volunteer their time to the 4-H program.
Rappahannock County 4-H offers three camping programs throughout the year; a winter camp, a Rappahannock county day camp, and an overnight camp. Approximately 150 campers from Rappahannock County attend these camps, and 35 teen counselors assist in leading these camps. Another 20 adult volunteers provide workshops and help chaperone. With assistance from the teen counselors and the volunteer staff, these programs are both affordable and of high quality. Jenny oversees and leads or co-leads the creation and supervision of the camping programs and the training for these counselors and volunteers.
