The Stafford County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension is your local connection to Virginia's land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University.

Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Stafford County improve their lives.

We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.

Language Interpretation Services Now Available

If you have limited English skills, do not let that stop you from visiting an Extension office. If you have difficulty speaking or understanding English, our staff can serve you by connecting you to one of our Extension agents through a telephone-based interpreter. Master Food Volunteer Training

Combine your love for cooking, nutrition, physical activity and helping others by becoming a Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Food Volunteer (MFV). The MFV training will consist of lessons in basic nutrition, meal planning, healthy cooking techniques, and food safety, with an opportunity to sample delicious recipes. Special guests include TV personality Mary Rapoport from the Virginia Egg Council, Cooperative Extension Specialists, Registered Dietitians, and many more fantastic lecturers from around the state. After the training, you will have the opportunity to volunteer in food demonstrations and displays at health fairs or farmers’ markets, food preparation and food safety classes, assisting with nutrition education programs or create your own forum for outreach in your community. The course cost is $90. It includes light refreshments, lunches, educational materials, apron, tote bag and supplies. Applications are due September 2, 2016 or until the class is full.
