The Stafford County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension is your local connection to Virginia's land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University.

Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Stafford County improve their lives.

We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.

Virginia Cooperative Extension Celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act

Join Virginia Cooperative Extension as it celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act, which officially established the National Cooperative Extension System. Activities are being planned throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia to commemorate the centennial in 2014. Events will be held in local communities, recognition of our Extension volunteers, and even a Virginia Cooperative Extension Day on May 8! Check this site frequently for periodic centennial updates and articles about Virginia Cooperative Extension programs and events.

2014 Junior 4-H Camp

2014 Junior Camp Registration is now open!

The 2014 Junior 4-H Camp will be held from July 20-24 at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center in Front Royal. All youth ages 9 to 13, who turn the indicated age on or before September 30, 2014, are eligible to attend.

To register for camp please fill out the registration form and enrollment form and return them with your check or money order to the address listed in the brochure.

2014 Tree and Shrub ID Series

Learn the methods needed to identify trees and shrubs in the Fredericksburg area. This course will be held every consecutive Thursday, with the exception of May 29,  from May 8 through June 19 from 9 to 11AM. For more information please refer to the registration brochure.

Living in the Garden: A Plant Lover's Symposium- Saturday, May 17, 2014, 8:30AM to 3:30PM This symposium will bring together several noted speakers to our area. This symposium will culminate in a tour of the beautiful University of Mary Washington Grounds.
