WILD HORSES: BEHAVIOR, MANAGEMENT AND STEWARDSHIP
Virginia Cooperative Extension will be offering an educational program on wild horse behavior, management and stewardship. This program is being offered to showcase a trip that Crystal Smith, Animal Science Extension Agent, took to observe the Oniqui wild horse herd on public lands. The program will recount the wild horse behaviors exhibited by the herd and how it relates to domesticated horse behavior. Additionally, Crystal will talk about the management and stewardship of wild horses on public lands as exhibited by the Bureau of Land Management Wild Horse & Burro Program.
Please plan to join us in December to learn more about these horses. The program will be offered in two locations for your convenience; on December 8th at 6:30 p.m. in Charlottesville, VA or on December 9th at 6:30 p.m. in Millwood, VA. A $10 donation collected at the door will go directly to the Wild Horse & Burro Program for horse care. For more information, directions or to RSVP for the program please contact Crystal Smith, Animal Science Extension Agent at Crystal.Smith@vt.edu or 540-635-4549.

First Aid and CPR for Horse & Rider
Proper First Aid and CPR administration can be pivotal in emergency situations, especially those involving horses and equestrians. Virginia Cooperative Extension is hosting a program on Saturday November 14th from 8am to 5pm on First Aid and CPR for Horse & Rider.
A certified and non-certified tract will be offered for participants following American Heart Association Curriculum. Instruction will be tailored to equestrians using real life scenarios of incidents that have happened to horses and riders in the barn, on the trailer, on the trail or at the horse show.
